The day is built around the people and produce of the region. Taste cool-climate wines at Keayang Maar Vineyard, discover Timboon’s historic railway precinct, sample locally distilled spirits and handmade ice cream, and visit artisan dairy and chocolate producers along the way.

From the farming country, continue south to the dramatic limestone coastline of Port Campbell National Park. Walk beneath the towering cliffs at Gibsons Steps, take in the famous Twelve Apostles and explore the rugged formations and shipwreck history of Loch Ard Gorge.

It’s a different way to experience the Twelve Apostles — combining the flavours and landscapes of Western Victoria with some of the Great Ocean Road region’s most iconic coastal scenery.

Are tastings included?

Yes — the scheduled food and beverage tastings along the Food Artisans Grazing Trail are included. Additional drinks, food, tasting flights and take-home purchases are at your own expense.

Do I need to bring ID for tastings?

Guests wishing to sample alcohol must be 18+ and carry valid photo ID. Non-drinkers are welcome, with plenty to enjoy throughout the day including local dairy, cheese, ice cream and chocolate.

Can we customise the stops or pace?

Yes. As a private tour, there is flexibility to adjust the pace, spend longer at favourite stops or add photo opportunities along the way, subject to venue opening hours and the day’s schedule.

Is lunch included?

Lunch is at your own expense. Your guide can recommend a suitable local option based on your preferences, appetite and the timing of the day’s tastings.

Will we still visit the Twelve Apostles?

Yes. After exploring the Food Artisans Grazing Trail, the tour continues to the Shipwreck Coast for Gibsons Steps, the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge.

Do we travel along the Great Ocean Road?

This tour takes a different route to our classic Great Ocean Road tour. We travel through the farming country of south-west Victoria and the Food Artisans Grazing Trail before reaching the Twelve Apostles and Shipwreck Coast, rather than following the coastal Great Ocean Road through the Surf Coast and Otways.

How much walking is involved?

Most stops involve short, easy walks between the vehicle, producers and coastal lookouts. Gibsons Steps involves a steep staircase to the beach, but descending the steps is optional. As this is a private tour, the pace can be adjusted to suit your group.

Are there bathroom stops?

Yes — there are regular opportunities to use bathroom facilities at venues and visitor areas throughout the day, and additional comfort stops can be made when required.

What type of vehicle do you use?

Your private tour is operated in a Mercedes-Benz V-Class with leather seating, climate control and space for day bags and purchases.

How will my cheese or other food purchases stay cool on the way home?

We carry an onboard fridge to keep suitable perishable purchases chilled during the day, so you can comfortably bring local cheese and other treats back to Melbourne.

Is this tour suitable for families?

Yes — families are welcome and child seats are available on request. Alcohol tastings are for guests aged 18+ only, while stops such as the ice creamery, chocolate producer and coastal attractions offer plenty for younger guests to enjoy.

What happens if one of the artisan producers is unavailable?

The trail includes small independent producers, so opening hours and availability can occasionally change. If a scheduled producer is unavailable, we may adjust the itinerary or substitute a suitable local alternative.

What happens in poor weather at the coast?

The Shipwreck Coast can be spectacular in all kinds of weather. Conditions can change quickly, and where practical your guide can adjust the timing or order of the coastal stops to make the most of the day.
