Tour FAQs

Will there be snow on the day?

During the snow season (June to September), Lake Mountain typically has good snow coverage. Conditions can vary, but we monitor them closely and will always aim to provide the best possible experience.

Do I need to bring snow gear?

No — if you don’t have snow gear, we can stop in Marysville to organise everything you need. We also recommend dressing in warm, layered clothing.

Is this tour suitable for children?

Yes, this tour is perfect for families and first-time snow visitors. Lake Mountain is known for its safe and accessible snow play areas, including toboggan runs.

Can we try skiing or snowboarding?

Lake Mountain is best suited for snow play and cross-country skiing rather than downhill skiing or snowboarding. If you’re looking for a larger alpine experience with more snow terrain, we recommend our Mount Buller tour or Mount Baw Baw tour.

How much time do we spend in the snow?

You’ll have approximately 3 to 4 hours at Lake Mountain, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the snow at a relaxed pace.

Are there food and facilities at Lake Mountain?

Yes, there is a café and basic facilities available on the mountain. We also stop in Marysville beforehand, where you can grab coffee, snacks, or lunch items.

Is the road safe in winter conditions?

Yes — we monitor road conditions closely and drive to suit the weather. Your guide is experienced with alpine conditions to ensure a safe and comfortable journey.

Can we customise the itinerary?

Absolutely. As this is a private tour, we can adjust timing, stops, and pacing to suit your group where possible.

Will we still visit the waterfall and chocolaterie?

Yes — both Steavenson Falls and the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie are included as part of the day, providing a nice balance of nature and relaxation alongside your snow experience.

What happens if the weather is poor?

Snow conditions can vary, but even on cloudy or snowy days, the experience is still enjoyable. If needed, we can adjust timing throughout the day to make the most of conditions.
